Life | Days Like Static
November 12, 2024 ~ I think it’s safe to say that this week has been one where nothing much has happened— certainly no monumental moment that would make an interesting read. As you know, J has been away at work for the past 80+ days. We are now down to the final two weeks before he is home again, and these last days are moving along like static.
Walking
I’ve been trying to walk to the Oceanside pier every couple of days. It’s not just about getting more exercise, although that’s part of it—it’s also about filling my time with something other than current events. The ocean has a way of putting everything into perspective. The sound of the waves is always calming, and a good reminder that nothing is as important as we would make it out to be.
Working
I’ve also thrown myself into my resale business as much as possible —scouring the bins and thrift stores for forgotten treasures and sending them off to new homes. There’s this small, quiet thrill I get from the hunt, from writing about each item’s usefulness, and from the simple act of giving things a second life. I’m always surprised by how much we throw away as a society.
Frankie and I made it up to the little Mexican market this week for Taco Tuesday. We just can't resist .69 cent tacos which are an incredible deal. We ordered three carne asada and three carnitas tacos and walked them back to the camper for lunch. Frankie made sure to play his part as official taco taste tester!
I suppose that's all I have for now. I’m patiently waiting for J to come home and keeping busy with mostly mundane things this week - walks, work, and my quiet decision to turn the world off for now. Maybe next week there will be more to say.
